Where Does your NEXT Big Idea come from?

One challenge organizations face is to identify where the next big idea will come from.  One place to focus on is understanding how your culture responds to both employees and customers needs.  Identifying these gaps will help your organization and people improve performance.

Check out our “BIG IDEA” card that we use with clients. This card opens lines of communication, so that everyone can be a part of the “Research and Design team!”

In 2012, open the lines of  communication and innovation with your team by using this card.  Put this in frequented places of your office, and ask your people to become a part of the change you want to create.  Check out a sample card  by clicking here! Download a template that you can actually use by clicking here!

Small Town Speaker Urges Big Dreams at Seneca Middle School

There is no mistaking that Seneca is a small town; but as motivational speaker Coach Michael Burt told Seneca Middle School students recently, coming from a small town doesn’t mean you can’t have big dreams. Burt’s message outlined seven small steps needed to attain big things in life. He reinforced his message and made it personal by referencing the preparation and goal setting needed by the school football team in order to achieve their current unbeaten record. Several students were then selected from the audience to help illustrate these steps culminating in a spirited arm-wrestling match with one of those students. Continue Reading…

Change Your Life Radio: Larry Winget

Tired of drama? What about whining, complaining, excuses, entitlement mindsets, and all of the problems “out there?” Well think again.

This week while studying for my radio guest Mr. Larry Winget who wrote bestselling books “Shut up, Stop Whining, and Get a Life” and “Your Kids are your Own Fault” I got a breath of fresh air. Winget, the self-proclaimed “Pit bull of Personal Development” talks about how “The Secret” is a joke, thanked all the “crap” he had gone through that prompted him to change, grown, learn, and get better, and offers his take on how kids are a “pain in the butt.”

Change Your Life Radio: 5 Rules For A Crisis

Every week we hear people saying “I am just putting out fires.”

In a reactive world something happens to us and we simply respond the best way we know how. Sometimes we get “unwanted outcomes,” my definition of adversity, and we need a mental model to respond in “the best way possible” that helps us advance toward our desired results. Instead of doing what many do which is whine, complain, point fingers, and WASTE valuable time on proactive measures of things they can control we should be using the crises to make us better, evaluate our systems, focus in other areas we are lacking in, and stay within our locus of control.

CHANGE YOUR LIFE RADIO: THE BIG LIE

What have we been told our whole lives from an early age? Go to school, get a degree, and go get a job.

This “myth” leads us to believe that if we go to college everything will be taken care of when we are finished. It’s almost like telling kids that when they grow up they can become whatever they want to become without telling them of the sacrifice that will be required to create it.

For far too long too many people have made it appear to young people that merely a degree will solve all of their problems, help them make the amount of money they want to make, and keep them happy their whole lives. We don’t prepare them for how to solve problems, create value, fix something, sell something, or become such an asset to the world that the world rewards them with massive amounts of love, money, recognition, and repute.
